This was taken with my pocket camera. I was delighted with the result.

I just love the colour combinations in this wide shot of the moon rising over a hay field near Whangaehu. The cool blues of the sky against the warm sunset glow reflected in the hay field.

This was taken from a little South of Raetihi.

This photo was taken at the same time as the one of Kapiti Island from the top of the Paekakariki hill road. You can see Paraparaumu jutting out into the sea, with Mount Ruapehu looming behind.

The sun is setting to the left of Kapiti Island, pictured here as seen from the top of Paekakariki Hill (on the west coast of the North Island, north of Wellington) on 1st July 2006. Although this photograph looks somewhat surreal, it is totally untouched apart from resizing for the web – it is just as my camera caught it. (1/500, F2.8)

A rather spiky, rugged matagouri in a harsh but incredibly beautiful setting – Mavora Lakes in the South Island.

The road out of Fairlie heading West. I was somewhat surprised at how well this photo turned out, as I took it using a pocket camera, and we were driving at around 80kph at the time.

Sunset at Karekare Beach, on the west coast of Auckland.

This bridge was washed away in July 2006. It is a real loss to the community, as it provided dry access to the beach to the north, which is a popular place to walk and collect fossils.

This is one of many birds that I have photographed at Virginia Lake. I think that this might be a young thrush, but with the beak being somewhat like that of a blackbird, suspect that it could be a young blackbird. Whatever it is, it was really quite friendly.

A waxeye on a Pohutukawa branch on the bank of the Whanganui River near the city centre. Quality was affected by being hand-held (the bird wouldn't stay still!) and it had to be taken with a lot of zoom, from a distance.

A tui at "The Pines" on the Queen Charlotte Track, Marlborough Sounds.

A horse on the hill across the river from the Wanganui city centre. I was struck by the solitary figure and took this shot using full zoom. The quality is a little compromised by the fact that I did not have my tripod, and the camera was hand-held, causing some movement at that distance. (30x zoom.)

It was every bit as big as it looks! And we have big black hairy ones as well.

Cattle north of Wanganui, November 2004. I spotted these while driving home one day and just couldn't resist pulling over to take their photo!

As the Christmas carol goes ... and a pigeon in a plum tree! Oh, that's right, it's supposed to be a partridge. A native wood pigeon in a plum tree on our drive. Every year around Christmas to the end of January we are visited by many wood pigeons gorging themselves on the many plum trees in the area.

A pair of native pigeons have been visiting us quite regularly during winter. Here they are resting in our oak tree.

Sunrise at Te Atatu Peninsula, Auckland. The Sky Tower can be seen in the distance. This was the subject of an etching that I did during a print-making weekend workshop with Rowan Gardiner.

I have always been fascinated by the delicate structures of flowers. These were just two of a beautiful display of tulips at Basun Gardens, Wanganui, in 2005.
